Did you know? A 2013 Real Estate Staging Association study found that homes, not staged, would sit on the market, on average for 143 days. Those same homes, once staged, sold, on average in 40 days. This is 72% less time on the market!

Let Your Home Speak For Itself

Your home speaks to you, but what is it saying to potential buyers? Your home is just that, YOUR home. It's the place where you live, where you store your belongings and showcase your most prized possessions. The goal in staging your home is to not only let your house speak to you, but to speak to each and every prospective buyer who walks through the door.

We all have clutter in our homes. Years of accumulation and simply living in a space will do that. But the goal here is to limit the clutter and distractions in your home so your potential buyers can focus on the task at hand, the home itself. There is certainly no shame in a little bit of clutter but in this case you can consider it the worst of all enemies!

Clutter is not only a distraction to potential buyers but those same potential buyers may take your clutter and assume the worst... there's just not enough room! What may be functional for everyday living can lead others to assuming that the storage in your property is lacking. Some examples of this are:

- Multiple rolls of toilet paper visible in the bathrooms

- Coat racks at the front door with multiple coats hanging from it

- Countertops with multiple appliances (toaster ovens, toasters, mail bins, canister full of utensils, cutting boards, coffee pots, knife sets, etc.

- Shoes at the door in a basket or lying on the ground

- .......... and the list goes on ..........

The idea behind staging your home is not to completely transform your home but to rather work with what you have. This includes the rearranging and reallocation of your belongings, in order to present the property in its best light. Sometimes this means also reallocating some of those belongings to the garage. Make no mistake, staging and prepping your home can be an inconvenience. But if selling your home in the shortest amount of time and for the most money is your goal then staging needs to be a serious part of the process.
